MONSTERS!? The thought ran through Nik's head. From his own experiences, there have never been any sort of monsters that he has confronted before, asides from Pokémon. So if there really are monsters, perhaps they are just powerful Pokémon that he could catch? Whatever the reasoning was, he wasn't the type to back away from something potentially challenging, and his intrigue was too high to ignore finding out what exactly the possibly-not-useless geologist had seen.

"Full speed ahead, Singe! We're gonna find whatever this guy here saw, and hit it with all our might!" The canine barked an affirming reply, spitting out a few flames so as to imitate scorching his enemies.

It wasn't long before you found it - or rather, bashed into it, as you managed to charge full speed through the darkness into some sort of scaly body. Not long after you picked yourself up from the floor, this unusual being began to move, and suddenly, sparks flew out of it. A Distrike. Uh oh.

You quickly recall of the dangers that this mountain could give, but you also distinctly remember how this is definitely not what you signed up to. You were supposed to be helping research! (And besides, the Revivalist Job Centre told you they'd only be held hostage by Flaaffy and Klaitning!) Fortunately for you, the Distrike was less interested in eating you, and more interested in making way for the horde of Electric-type Pokemon behind it. They looked up into the pitch-black abyss that hovered above the cave, and slowly moved back for the sole being that hovered down from it... an Unown?

OOC: Finnial uses bite

Nik and Singe were, to say the least, effectively scared by the Distrike that simply waddled away from them into the depths of the mountain cave. The time they were allowed for regaining their composure was short-lived, however, as a strange L-shaped creature gently floated down from the roof of the tavern. Could it be that the being was responsible for the disappearance of that annoying geologist guy?

"This whole thing seems pretty fishy to me," Nik said wearily to the still-wide-eyed Feucrota. "Watch our backs in case that Distrike comes back," he continued as he tossed a red and white orb to the ground, revealing the Finnial that Nik had recently caught in the mountains. Singe wimpered for a second, but turned about as instructed. "Let's get that thing with a bite, Finnial!"

The bite attack seemed effective against the L, but the mysterious Pokemon suddenly counter-attacked by releasing dark powers from its body. A vicious force struck Finnial, stronger than one might have expected. No wonder the geologist had been scared when seeing this small creature. What could he be doing now, by the way?

Studying the first round of attacks, Nik realized that his Finnial might not last against the Unown if he kept it out. He hated to have his back wide open, but getting Singe into the battle could be the quickest way to finish it and get done with the crazy goose chase. Honestly, he didn't even care about finding the geologist. He just wanted to avoid running into that Distrike if at all possible, something that his partners probably agreed with him on. Coming to a decision, he called the electric lizard back to her ball and ushered Singe to the front lines.

"Let's continue where Finnial left off with another bite," he calmly ordered. With any luck, they might actually be able to capture the strange creature, and then torture forgive it for attacking and messing with them.

The mysterious L continued to release dark powers, striking Singe this time. A bit stronger than the finnial, Singe did not have to be troubled by that one hit. The bite attack against the unown was more serious. Despite using dark powers itself, the L was weak against such attacks, and took a lot of damage from the feucrota's fangs.

The unown was still reeling from Singe's attack and didn't even see the great ball coming. It struggled desperately as the great ball drew it inside, but there was no resisting the powerful ball's containment field. After just a couple wobbles, the great ball lay still in the snow.

Congratulations! Unown was caught! Unown was sent to Box 1!

Would you like to give a nickname to the captured unown?

With the Unown safely put away, something strange started to happen. All of the wild Pokémon within the vicinity turned their attention towards something on the other side of the cavern space. Before, the horde appeared to be minding their own business, and almost seemed dazed or lost in a way. They now grouped around what appeared to be the damned geologist. Apparently Unown's power had made him dazed and lost, same as the wild Pokémon.

Damn, this is bad. He's right in the middle of the pack of Pokémon who are confused and probably angry. We need to do something, and fast.

He paused for a moment, before hastily making a decision on what do to do. "Minijina, let's fog things up in here with a smokescreen!" he shouted, while releasing the blind badger from the ball into his arms. The billowing smoke clouded the cave, making it impossible to see through anything without some sort of light source. Singe, light a flame for us, we're gonna have to dive in that crowd of wild Pokémon. If they could execute properly, then Nik could just toss the scientist onto the Feucrota's back while they make an escape through the cover of the smoke. All they could do now was hope everything worked out properly.

Whilst Nik had been busy with the unown, the geologist had indeed gotten himself into more trouble. Whatever monster had frightened him before, he was now facing several of them. They were probably too many for Nik's Pokemon to handle, so there had to be another way to save the geologist besides fighting.

When the smoke appeared, the wild monsters rushed about in confusion. Some of them appeared to possess electric power, as a few lightings flashed throughout the cave. With the help of his feucrota, Nik was able to charge into the swarm of Pokemon, picking up the confused and frightened geologist and head toward the exit. The trouble was not entirely over, however, as an angry, blue storm cloud followed them outside. The cloud appeared to be a group of angry birds, shooting sparks all about them.

OOC: The mission should be complete after this.

Nik, Feucrota, and the dazed geologist high-tailed it through the cave in a frenzy, a bright light still buzzing about from behind them.

These are most likely a group of birds, Nik thought to himself. Meaning that they aren't going to like the cold one bit...

In a hurried set of movements, he returned Minijina to his PokéBall, drawing upon a separate member of his team. A flash of red revealed Invicunya, who stopped dead in her tracks, unsure of what was going on.

"No time to explain, just blow a powder snow in that direction!" shouted the out of breath boy, hoping that the cold air would drive away the mob of Humbuzz and Klaitnings. This was the only option left if they wanted to escape alive and claim their reward from the revivalist headquarters.

The birds were to angry to mind the cold air outside the cave, but as the snow came whirling about, they should have considered their actions. The blue storm cloud became a cold, icy block as the birds became frozen together. They started pecking rapidly at the ice cage, but despite their number, it would take a while to break free from the cold prison. Meanwhile, Nik and the geologist could head back to the lodge, then to town and to the Revivalists' headquarters whenever they felt their mission was accomplished.

At the HQ a reward would await them, especially for Nik who had done a great job defending the geologist against the wild Pokemon.

OOC: You can now pick a tier 1 reward.
