I'm full of questions

Hello, guess who's asking another question?
(Me again).
This is pretty game-mechanic-based.
Anywho, how are the Pokemon we battle determined. Is there a generator used or is it numbers-based?...
Is it the same thing used for Shiny Pokemon?
Also, how are move effectiveness calculated?

Thanks - this isn't a particularly needy question but I have an insatiable curiousity.

Oh yeah, if my question on the Quick Question Thread hasn't been seen yet, how was the wiki made; WikiSpaces, MediaWiki? Interested because unlike Bulbapedia it isn't clearly displayed anywhere.

Wild pokémon are determined by a special generator, which also determines shininess; trainers are either randomly generated or simply made up. Move effectiveness works exactly as it does in the video games.

The wiki is powered by MediaWiki.
