As the ferry pulled in to the docks, Ian had to cover his ears as Surge screeched wildly in excitement, happy to be away from the island where he'd spent his entire life until now. Ian shrank under the glares from strangers at this idiotic new Trainer who couldn't even keep his Pokémon under control. At least, that's what he imagined. Most of the looks were sympathetic ones, from older, more experienced Trainers who had also chosen Spraylet at their journey's beginning and had also been subject to the young Pokémon's cacophonous screeches. Regardless, Ian rushed off the ferry as soon as it stopped, barely pausing to thank the staff as he passed them.

Even though Ian was off the ferry, Surge's screeching continued. "Jeez, Surge, calm down! If you keep this up I'm going to need a hearing aid by the time I'm twenty!" A little embarrassed, Surge stopped his screeching, and Ian looked around his new surroundings. There were plenty of Trainers fishing around the docks, and towards the land the area was open, not many trees for cover, but lots of grass for Pokémon to hide in. In the distance Ian could see the expansive Denath plains. Somewhere in there was the Ambalchi Temple, an ancient Tanoby structure. But to get there, he had to first traverse Route 604. His destination set, Ian took his first step and with that a wild Pokémon lunged out of the grass straight at him!

OOC: Wild, please.

Alarmed, a wild Auriole fluttered out of the grass, stirring up a small gust of wind in surprise. It didn't know who you were, but it knew that you had startled it, and wasn't about to flee before a fight!

Ian almost sighed. He'd seen quite a few Auriole over on Brol Island, and he'd been hoping for some diversity in wildlife now he'd made it to Kronea. He supposed it didn't really matter, though. "Surge, Tackle!"

OOC: Sorry for the wait, just saw that you didn't have an update yet. >_<

Surge made his debut on Kronea Island with a swift tackle, causing the enemy Auriole to go plummeting down to the ground. The bird soon forgot about the pain as it carefully scoped out your Spraylet and began to peck furiously. It did quite a bit of damage to Surge, but still looked like it was in worst condition.

Ian frowned. This Auriole looked quite strong, and he hadn't actually caught a single Pokémon here himself. It was still too strong, though, so he ordered Surge to perform another Tackle.

Like before, Surge started up with a hefty tackle, showing the Auriole who was boss. The Auriole must have been a bit bogged down from the attack, anyways, as it wasn't able to do nearly as much damage as before. This time, its power was rather equal with that of the Spraylet.

Ian nodded to himself. This Auriole was definitely quite strong. While he doubted it would keep a place on his team all the way to the end, it would certainly help him to get ahead now. "That's enough for now, Surge," he said, digging into his bag for a Pokéball.

Strong it might have been, but the tired Auriole couldn't resist the pokéball's pull. It fought against the capture device for several seconds, the ball rocking and jouncing around on the ground, but at last it fell still. Surge let out an excited shriek and bounced up and down in delight.

Auriole was caught! Congratulations! Would you like to give Auriole a nickname?

Showing remarkable restraint of his excitement, only allowing himself a grin, Ian bent to pick up the Pokéball. Surge was less restrained, screeching and jumping around excitedly. Ian cringed at the noise, sure that every trainer from here to Adar Zilira could hear the racket. Maybe the din didn't reach that far, but as Ian furiously tried to shush the Spraylet, he heard a voice behind him.
"Pffft, what kind of noob can't even control his own Pokémon?" Ian stiffened. Just who did this kid think he was? Who even used the word noob anymore, anyway? He'd just caught his first Pokémon, and this moment shouldn't be ruined by some snot-nosed kid. Turning around, he confronted the kid and said "So you think you can do better? Why don't you prove it?"

"Cordyceps, come on out and use Poisonpowder!"

Cordyceps had barely had the chance to take stock of the situation and receive his command before the turistar went on the attack, spinning across the arena at top speed and knocking the paras flying with a quick attack. Fortunately, the paras had already been prepping poisonous spores in his mushrooms, and these puffed out over the turistar upon impact. On the other hand, this meant that it was a waste of time for Cordyceps to scatter more of them over his opponent--the turistar was already well and truly sickened.

The foe's turistar used quick attack! Turistar was poisoned by Cordyceps' effect spore.

Cordyceps used poisonpowder! But it failed.

The turistar struck with lightning speed, hitting the paras before it could react. The attack hit a vital spot, inflicting more damage than it had before.

Cordyceps was however not ready to give up, but had time to scratch the star shaped monster beneath the blue shell, also striking a weak point.

OOC: Poison damage should have been 1/8 the Turistar's HP, or -4 HP. Went back and fixed it.

Like a shuriken flinging towards its target, the Turistar launched itself speedily at Cordyceps. With no time to even attempt to dodge the oncoming attack, poor Cordy was sent spiraling back once again, clearly not able to take much more of this. Cordyceps wouldn't take any more. Yet again, the Paras slammed down its claw if righteousness, striking the turtle in yet another vital spot. The battle was too close at this point!

OOC: Midas should have my ID, not TURQ2013. I'll just go ahead and fix that myself.
Ian frowned. It was obvious that Cord couldn't take much more, but Turistar was clearly weakening too. Another Quick Attack would certainly finish Cordyceps off, so Ian had no choice but to switch. He figured he might as well give the new guy some experience. "Auriole, come on out for a Peck!"

As expected, the Turistar sped from its resting spot to where Auriole now stood in no time, deliver a quick and somewhat painful attack. But with a single follow-up peck, the new Auriole brought the shuriken turtle down. Next up, Pat sent out a Pokémon that looked quite familiar to your own. He shouted, "I'll tell you right now that your Auriole is no match for mine!/"

Cordyceps gained a boosted 72% exp.
Midas gained 68% exp.

Ian knew his Auriole was no match for the other Trainer's, but it wouldn't do any harm to leave him in to get some experience. "Use another Peck!"

The enemy auriole went directly in for a peck attack, striking the weaker bird with its beak. Ian's auriole was a more skilled pecker, though not fully trained, his auriole could not inflict as much damage on the target. It did not look good for the already battle-weary bird.
